Washington State suspends mental health counselor Flor Mari Crisostomo for “deviant sexual desires”

On October 2, 2007, the Washington State Department of Health suspended the license of mental health counselor Flor Mari Crisostomo, based on allegations that she traded candy for sex with a 17-year-old boy who was an inmate of a county juvenile detention facility. Crisostomo is a University of Washington counselor who has worked with juveniles at the county detention center. The state’s suspension order stated that the 39-year-old Crisostomo is unable to control her “deviant sexual desires.” Seattle police have investigated the case as a statutory rape, although no charges have been made public and no arrest has been made.¹
