Texas psychologist Mercy Chieza gets three years prison for Medicaid fraud; must repay $664,000 in ill-got gains

WACO - A local psychologist was sentenced Thursday to three years in prison for healthcare fraud and money laundering.

Mercy Chieza, owner of Chieza Psychological Services in Waco, executed a scheme to defraud the Texas Medicaid Program.

She admitted in 2009 to submitting multiple fraudulent billing and filing claims for services she did not perform.

The 55-year old must also serve a supervised release following her prison term, and pay back $664,000 to the Texas Medicaid Program.
