Medical Board Issues Accusation against Psychiatrist Roy Del Rosario Regarding Controlled Substances

On November 1, 2024, the Medical Board of California issued an Accusation against Lancaster psychiatrist Roy B. Del Rosario.
The Accusation charges Del Rosario with gross negligence, repeated negligent acts, violation of state statute regulating dangerous drugs—failure to consult CURES; and failure to maintain adequate and accurate records.
According to the Board’s document, Del Rosario, in his treatment of six patients, failed to document mental status exams, rationale for adding or changing medication; inaccuracies in records regarding changes in dosage levels; prescribing dangerous combinations of drugs; failing to document any discussion of the risks of concomitant use of different controlled substances; and failure to taper or decrease a benzodiazepine dosage or to inform the patient of the risks of long-term benzo use.
