Oklahoma Medical Board Suspends License of Psychiatrist Steve Skarky for Predatory Sexual Behavior with Patient
June 20, 2023
On January 19, 2023, the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision suspended the license of Oklahoma City psychiatrist Steve Skarky, for six months followed by a probation period of five (5) years.
The Board found Skarky guilty of unprofessional conduct including engaging in predatory sexual behavior, and failure to establish a physician/patient relationship prior to providing patient-specific medical services, care, or treatment.
Skarky has admitted to having sexual relationships with two patients as well as prescribing to a person he met at an online dating site and with whom he did not have a valid doctor patient relationship.
On December 6, 2022, the Board issued a Verified Complaint and Citation citing allegations of unprofessional conduct including having sexual relations with two patients while he was still treating them. One patient was able to provide over 200 pages of texts and emails between herself and Dr. Skarky, which clearly demonstrated the inappropriateness of the relationship between him and his patient.
