Kentucky Psychiatrist Jason Stamper, Charged with Drug Trafficking, Now Faces Federal Indictment as Well

May 29, 2023

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pikeville psychiatrist already charged with drug trafficking after federal authorities raided his office back in December is now under a federal indictment as well.

Jason Noah Stamper, 51, of Coal Run Village, was charged in Pike District Court with trafficking and possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia back in December.

During the raid, officers discovered a bag believed to contain meth along with the prescription drug Vyvanse and trafficking paraphernalia.

Thursday evening, a federal grand jury charged him with distributing amphetamine.

The indictment alleges Stamper distributed the drug on four occasions from June to September “outside the scope of professional practice and not for a legitimate medical purpose.” Each charge carries a maximum potential sentence of 20 years in prison and $1 million in fines if he is convicted.

Stamper is currently out on bond for the Pike County case, but federal prosecutors have asked a judge to issue a warrant for his arrest.
