California Psychiatrist George L. Wilkinson Surrenders License Following Failed Probation for DUI-Alcohol Abuse
July 8, 2022
On December 31, 2021, the Medical Board of California ordered that the license of Redwood City psychiatrist George Wilkinson be surrendered.
The Board filed an accusation against Wilkinson on August 23, 2018 for the dangerous use of alcohol and a conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol. The basis of the Board’s accusation was Wilkinson’s December 13, 2016 arrest on charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more, and a hit and run resulting in property damage.
In lieu of revocation of his license, the Board placed Wilkinson on probation for three years with terms and conditions to address his substance abuse. However, the Board later revoked his probation because he violated the terms and conditions when he submitted a biological fluid sample which tested positive for alcohol.
