Strategic Behavioral Health: Nevada Health Authority Cites & Fines Montevista Hospital Over Patient Health and Safety Concerns
August 12, 2019
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Federal and state regulators have penalized a Las Vegas psychiatric facility over patient health and safety concerns.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Montevista Hospital was cited for violating government regulations after multiple facility investigations.
Regulators say they first discovered violations in January and were told all deficiencies were corrected but returned in June to find the facility was still not compliant.
State regulators say the 202-bed hospital was given a $19,000 fine and was prohibited from accepting new patients in July.
Federal regulators say Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements will cease in August.
Officials say violations included workers providing inaccurate treatments, patients sharing medication and escaping the facility.
Officials say the hospital has since changed its operations, appointed new leadership and can apply for federal reinstatement upon new completed investigations.
