Utah revokes license of psychiatrist Alan F. Heap for unprofessional conduct relative to prescribing controlled substances

On January 11, 2007 the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing revoked psychiatrist Alan F. Heap's licenses to practice and prescribe controlled substances. The state found that Dr. Heap had engaged in unprofessional conduct in the practice of medicine with regard to prescribing controlled substances to several of his patients. The revocations were stayed but were placed on five year's probation with conditions. He was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.1
