Virginia psychiatrist Colleen Blanchfield reprimanded by medical board for prescribing ADD drugs without substantiating diagnosis

On February 6, 2009 the Virginia Board of Medicine issued a Consent Order, reprimanding psychiatrist Colleen Blanchfield. According to the Order, from April 1, 2006 to June 22, 2007, Dr. Blanchfield “without appropriate testing and work-up to substantiate a diagnosis of attention deficit disorder [Blanchfield] treated Patient A by prescribing Strattera…and Focalin XR [drugs approved for the treatment of attention deficit disorder].”
