Wisconsin mental health counselor Adam Sturdevajnt loses license over criminal charges, convictions, bond violations

On October 23, 2012, the Professional Counselor Section of the Wisconsin Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling and Social Work Examining Board suspended indefinitely the license of professional counselor Adam M. Sturdevant.

According to the Board’s document, Studevant was convicted in December 2000 of operating while intoxicated with a passenger under 16 years old. He was sentenced to 120 days in jail and his license was revoked for 48 months.

Further, he was convicted in December 2002 of operating with a revoked license.

On November 7, 2011, a criminal complaint was filed against Sturdevant, charging him with one count of operating while intoxicated and one count of operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration. Among the conditions of his bail on the November 2011 charges was that he not consume alcohol.

On March 2, 2012, Sturdevant was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and felony bail jumping related to an incident in which Sturdevant consumed alcohol in violation of his bond and physically attacked his girlfriend, with whom he’d engaged in an earlier physical altercation. She obtained a restraining order prohibiting him from being at her residence.

On March 16, 2012, Sturdevant was again arrested at his girlfriend’s residence, where he was found intoxicated, in violation of his bond. He was arrested yet against at his girlfriend’s house on April 21, 2012, where he was charged with criminal damage to property for breaking a computer and a clock and disorderly conduct for engaging in a physical altercation with his girlfriend. He was also charged with felony bail jumping for being intoxicated, in violation of his bond. Sturdevant continued to call his girlfriend from jail, despite her requests that he stop.
