February 6, 2013
On December 20, 2012, the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services issued an Administrative Injunction against Lawrence A. Kane, III. The state’s document states that Kane surrendered his clinical social worker license and professional counselor licenses to the Wisconsin Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling and Social Work Examining Board on December 12, 2011 and February 3, 2012, respectively. Kane, had been earlier charged by the Board with engaging in false advertising; permitting an unlicensed person to practice psychotherapy; engaging in misleading business and billing practices to the detriment of his patients; intentionally violating patient confidences, among other things. The Injunction document states that Kane continued to see and treat clients at his clinics after surrendering his license, and routinely contacted clients’ physicians to consult with and discuss the treatment provided.
