West Virginia psychiatrist suspended for inappropriate sexual relationship with a former patient

In June 2017, Dr. Omar Khalid Hasan, a psychiatrist in West Virginia, had his license suspended for one year due to an inappropriate sexual relationship with a former patient. Hasan denied the allegations, but the West Virginia Board of Medicine found "clear and convincing evidence" during a four-day hearing, including thousands of text messages illustrating the relationship.  

The suspension will begin on July 24 to facilitate transition of care for his patients.
