On September 7, 2012, the Washington State Examining Board of Psychology issued a Statement of Charges against Kristi L. Mix (aka Kristi L. Breen).
The state’s document is heavily redacted but the unredacted portions indicate that Mix reported sick to work on August 1, 2011 and did not respond to attempts by her employer to reach her to discuss care of her clients. She then resigned her position on August 5.
A few weeks later, Mix traveled to Mexico. “She was arrested by Mexican police and found to be in an agitated state, wandering the streets without a passport or money,” according to the document.
Additionally, the document describes Mix’s treatment of a patient to came seeking treatment in late July 2011 for issued related her chronic diseases. Mix’s response to the patient was incongruous with her complaints. Mix spoke about her personal and family life and other tangential topics, unrelated to the patient’s situation. This occurred as well on the second and third visits with the addition of Mix’s emotional outbursts and condescending/insulting characterizations of the patient, who did not return a fourth time.
