Virginia suspends counselor Jonathan O. Crook for sex with client, etc.

The Virginia Board of Counseling issued an official Order on licensed professional counselor Jonathan O. Crook, containing the following findings: 1) “Mr. Crook entered into a sexual and romantic relationship with [a client] immediately following the termination of therapy, on March 15, 2007. Three months later…Mr. Crook and [the client] purchased a house together in North Carolina…and moved in to said house to live thereafter as a couple” and 2) “From October 18, 2006 to March 15, 2007, Mr. Crook failed to provide information in the treatment record of [the client] to substantiate diagnosis, client progress, and termination.” The Board indefinitely suspended Crook’s license to practice for a period of not less than one year.
