Tennessee reprimands psychologist James M. Scott over psych assessments

On December 1, 2011, the Tennessee Board of Examiners in Psychology formally reprimanded psychologist James M. Scott.

At the time Scott was under investigation, he worked a senior psychological examiner in a private practice, conducting assessments for the Department of Children’s Services and the Social Security Administration.

The Board’s document states that Scott’s assessment reports indicate a pattern of drawing general and overwhelming conclusions from very limited data and that, in certain reports, Scott did not include enough information or there simply was no data to form an adequate basis for his conclusions. In addition to the reprimand, Scott must undergo at least one year of practice supervision by a Board-approved supervisor.
