State revokes license of social worker Sharon C. Tell

May 22, 2012

On May 22, 2012, the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling revoked the license of clinical social worker Sharon C. Teel.

According to the Board’s Order, Teel was admitted to a behavioral health center in late September 2009 for “evaluation and management of problems with alcohol and sedatives.”

The physician overseeing Teel’s care stated that she was unable to safely practice with reasonable skill and safety and should refrain from clinical practice.

The physician recommended Teel receive extended substance abuse treatment and monitoring by the state’s Professional Resource Network, the program with monitors the evaluation, care and treatment of impaired healthcare practitioners.

In late 2009, Teel moved to California. She never signed a contract with PRN nor formally withdrew from practice in the state of Florida.
