State revokes license of social worker Mary Shrum for criminal convictions

On April 5, 2012, the Idaho Board of Social Workers issued a final order on licensed masters social worker Mary Shrum, revoking her license, including any right to renew or reinstate it.

According to the Board’s documents, Shrum was employed by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare from April 1991 to July 18, 2008.

Shrum took a leave of absence in March 2008 and did not return to work on May 27 as scheduled but submitted a verbal resignation on July 24, 2008.

The document states that Shrum admitted to beginning to have problems with alcohol in the summer of 2007, coincident with marital problems.

This was followed by numerous charges and convictions between July 2007 and October 2009: Reckless driving; willful concealment; driving under the influence (excessive); failure to stop after an accident; batter; theft and burglary.

The Board additionally imposed an administrative fine Shrum $5,000.
