State reprimands UCLA psychiatrist
January 8, 2014
On December 26, 2013, the Medical Board of Cailfornia issued a Public Letter of Reprimand to psychiatrist Alexander Bystritsky, of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, which stated that “An investigation by the Medical Board of California revealed that you failed to document informed consent for certain outpatient neuroleptic [antipsychotic] medications, failed to objectively assess and consider potential iatrogenic causes contributing to the patient’s delirium, and failed to call 911 when attending to a patient in that condition, over the objection to hospitalization, by the patient and her husband.”
