State reinstates psychologist Julian Gordon; convicted in '97 of sex crime with child

December 23, 2011

On August 4, 2011, the Michigan Board of Psychology accepted the Proposal for Decision in the case of psychologist Julian M. Gordon and granted the reinstatement of his license, issuing him a limited license on the condition that he pass the Exam for Professional Practice in Psychology. The limited license would be for three years, during which Gordon may not treat individual under 18 years of age. He would also be required to undergo 2000 hours under practice supervision.

The Board revoked Gordon’s license in March 1999 based on Gordon’s November 1997 criminal convictions for felony criminal sexual conduct on a child age 13-15 and two counts of misdemeanor criminal sexual conduct on a child age 13-16, on which he was sentenced to a minimum of six years and maximum of 15 years prison. He was released from prison February 11, 2010 and is required to register as a sex offender for life.

On April 15, 2010, Gordon filed an application with the Michigan Board of Psychology for reinstatement of his license to practice as a psychologist but the MDCH denied the application on the basis that Gordon failed to satisfy the Board’s requirements for reinstatement.
