State issues complaint against psychiatrist for self-prescribing

On January 18, 2013, the Florida Department of Health issued an administrative complaint against psychiatrist Frank N. Trovato.

According to the complaint, from about December 27, 2010 to March 1, 2011, Trovato self-prescribed anabolic steroids to himself, in violation of Florida Statutes.

The Department has requested that the state Board of Medicine enter an order against Trovato, imposing penalties ranging from remedial education to permanent revocation of his license.
