State board revokes license of counselor Donald P. Thomas for "questionable behaviors"

On June 7, 2012, the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners revoked the licensed of counselor Donald P. Thomas, citing a history of questionable behaviors while providing therapeutic services to juvenile clients in detention/probation programs, either at his office at their schools.

The Board’s document states that though candy and gum were considered contraband in the detention facility, Thomas gave it to his juvenile clients and had to be repeatedly told not to; took juvenile clients off campus to walk around a cemetery; saw students that were not on his authorized client list; transported clients in his personal vehicle without appropriate authorization; and engaged in non-professional activity activities with the juveniles clients such as going to a movie, bowling, a pizza parlor and a waterfall sight seeing excursion.

Further, he billed for services to juvenile clients who were not on his authorized list and for time when he did not provide any treatment.
