State Permanently Revokes License of Psychiatrist Lyda Monte; Convicted of Fraud

On December 4, 2018, the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners reported that it had permanently revoked the license of psychiatrist Lyda Monte.
The Board's action is the result of a report it received from the state Medicaid program that Monte had pleaded guilty to fraud.
Specifically, on or about May 14, 2018, Monte pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for New Jersey to making false statements to medicaid for mental health sevice provided to patients--most of them Medicaid recipients--at Nueva Vida, amental health counseling business she formerly worked at in Camden, New Jersey.
Monte admitted in court that between January 2010 and August 2016. she signed fake treatment plans, in a move ordered by Nueva Vida's owner, which was intended to mislead New Jersey Medicaid inspectors.
She was due to be sentenced on August 28, though no further information on the case has been issued.
