South Carolina suspends mental health counselor’s license following heroin conviction

On July 5, 2007 the South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage & Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists suspended professional counselor John N. Carter’s license for three years, retroactively starting November 5, 2005 until November 5, 2008. The Board found that Mr. Carter was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin. He pleaded guilty March 9, 2006 to a lesser charge of Possession of Heroin and was assessed a fine.1
