South African psychologist Desmond Wilkinson faces hearing for breaching patient confidentiality

In April 2010, Johannesburg psychologist Desmond Wilkinson was scheduled to appear before the Health Professions Council of South Africa on allegations that he breached patient confidentiality. Specifically, he is alleged to have consulted a woman’s daughter and compiled a report from that consultation which he later gave to the woman’s husband, also his patient, who had been suspected of verbally and physically abusing his daughter. Results of the hearing have not yet been released.
