Sexual Abuse: Psychiatrist Surendra Johri Awaits More Charges
June 21, 2018
A female patient had claimed that psychiatrist Surendra Johri placed her hand on his groin, over his pants, during a counseling session at a Community Health & Behavioral Services Center. When the female patient found out Johri was terminated from the center, she disclosed to the secretary at the center what Johri had done to her, according to Oneida County District Attorney, Scott McNamara.
The defense says it never happened. Thursday afternoon Utica City Court Judge F. Christopher Giruzzi found Surendra Johri not guilty of sexually abusing a patient.
Dr. Surendra Johri faces additonal charges from another victim: one count each, of forcible touching and sexual abuse. This case should go to trial sometime this summer.
