Psychotherapist Andrea Sywulak reprimanded over custody evaluation

On November 5, 2012, the Pennsylvania Department of State reprimanded licensed psychotherapist Andrea E. Sywulak because she failed to cautiously and conservatively interpret data from interviews or tests and refraining from drawing conclusions not adequately supported by the data, failed to utilize the best interests of the child standard, and committed unprofessional conduct by departing from, or failing to conform to the standards of acceptable and prevailing psychological practice and by failing to assess the individual and family factors that affect the best psychological interests of the child.

She was additionally ordered her to pay a civil penalty of $3,000 and costs of investigation in the amount of $529.76 and she must complete a total of 20 contact hours of remedial education addressing the subjects of child custody, law, and ethics.

I am the one who made this complaint. It took nearly FIVE years for the State to reprimand her. She called the Judge and lied to the Court; My 7 yr old son was ripped away from me - with no investigation - and all custody given to his father. Eventually, the Court dismissed her report, but since my son had been with his father for so long (1.5 yrs), they didn't want to move him. I tried to sue her, but she is immune, as she is "an extension of the Court". Due to some other circumstances, he came back home after a few more months. This was extremely traumatic for my son and me. It was extremely expensive and my credit is forever ruined. We were not the first family she did something like this to (check the records for a Bucks County family - they tried to sue, too). I was just the first one who persevered long enough to get this done! DO NOT trust this woman.

You were not the last family either. She retraumatized my children and I too starting in 2017. The children told her that their dad abused them and she told them they were lying and manipulated them to be alone with him even though it went against the custody order. DO NOT trust this woman. She operates with severe confirmation bias and seems to be very PRO dad regardless of the child abuse.
