Psychologist issued diagnosis and opinion about someone she never met; board issues letter

On October 16, 2013, the South Dakota Board of Examiners of Psychologists issued a private letter of concern to psychologist Susan Eleeson.
According to the Board’s Settlement Agreement, in February 2012, the Board received a complaint against Eleeson, alleging that she had rendered a professional opinion without without direct and substantial professional contact with, or a formal assessment of an unidentified individual who was not one of her patients and for whom she sought an order of protection against.
In the petition for the order, she gave a professional opinion that the person suffered from one or another specified psychiatric disorders.
