Psychologist and psychiatrist suspended from California's workers comp system
October 16, 2017
The California Division of Workers Compensation announced that it suspended three medical providers, including one psychologist and one psychiatrist, from participating in the state's workers comp system.
Suspensions were issued against psychiatrist Samuel H. Albert, who pled guilty in 2016 to conspiracy to commit health care fraud, and psychologist Robert E. Brizendine, who surrendered his license in 2014.
According to a law passed in 2016, medical providers are banned from participating in California’s workers comp system if they have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving fraud, abuse of the Medi-Cal or Medicare programs, or abuse of the workers comp system.
