Psychologist D. Laurence More surrenders license on charges of sex with two patients

On November 16, 2011, D. Laurence More, M.Ed. permanently surrendered his psychologist’s license to the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology. This was the result of More’s violation of a September 2006 Consent Agreement between himself and the Board, which suspended his license for a minimum period of five years with a period of active suspension of not less than four years.

According to the Board’s document, More had begun providing psychological services to a husband and wife in November 2003 and terminated the therapeutic relationship in or about May 2004. More admitted that, approximately one month following termination, he commenced a personal relationship with the wife and further admitted that approximately two to three months later, he commenced a sexual relationship with her. However, on or about July 5, 2011, the Board received a complaint in which it was alleged that in or around 2000, More engaged in a sexual relationship with a different patient without first waiting two years after terminating professional services, as required by Board regulations.

More neither denied or admitted to this allegation but agreed to surrender his license to avoid other disciplinary measures which could have included revocation of his license, civil penalties and/or the costs of investigation.
