Psychologist Anthony Vertino Excluded from Medicaid for Fraudulent Claims
December 10, 2018
On September 14, Illinois psychologist Anthony D. Vertino was excluded from participation in Medicaid and all federal health care programs for 20 years.
An investigation by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General, which is concerned with fraud, waste, corruption, etc. in federally funded programs, revealed that Vertino submitted claims for psychological services that were not provided as claimed or were false or fraudulent because the claims were for dates of service when patients were hospitalized or when Vertino was travelling out of state.
