Psychiatrist Joseph Bargellini gets probation for asking patient sexual questions

On February 2, 2013, the New York Department of Health suspended psychiatrist Joseph Bargellini for three years, stayed the suspension, and placed his license on probation with a practice monitor for the duration of the suspension period.

Bargellini was found to have committed professional misconduct for, among other things, asking inappropriate questions of a sexual nature and making inappropriate comments of a sexual nature to both a female patient and a female co-employee.

He was also found to have committed moral unfitness in that he lied on an employment application for hospital privileges, knowingly concealing two previous employment terminations.
