Psychiatrist Anandababu Chellappan loses license for sexual contact with patients
November 4, 2013
A longtime Henrico psychiatrist and surgeon had his license revoked by the State Board of Medicine after acknowledging multiple incidents of inappropriate sexual contact with patients.
In an order entered Oct. 25, Dr. Anandababu Chellappan consented to revocation of his license, according to board documents.
Chellappan had recently appealed in Henrico County Circuit Court a lower court conviction of assault against a patient, but board documents now spell out in detail admissions by Chellappan to six separate incidents of sexual contact with patients.
Chellappan, 67, received a license to practice medicine in Virginia in December 1982. The license was suspended in January pending a formal hearing that Chellappan set aside by entering a consent order last week.
Chellappan’s practice was located on Cutshaw Avenue near the Shops at Willow Lawn.
