Pennsylvania suspends psychiatrist Muhammad Akhtar following criminal conviction

On May 24, 2011, the Pennsylvania Department of State suspended the license of psychiatrist Muhammad Nasim Akhtar for the duration of the time that his license to practice medicine in the state of Ohio is on suspension.
On February 9, 2011, the State Medical Board of Ohio suspended Akhtar’s license for 270 days based on his 2010 criminal conviction for first-degree Theft by Deception. Akhtar was found guilty for having submitted billings and received payment from Medicaid and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services for medical services not rendered and services billed at a higher value.
He was sentenced in the criminal case to pay a fine of $250 and restitution of $7,829.65.
