Pennsylvania Psychologist Richard Lenhart Loses Appeal in Child Rape Case
July 7, 2026
Former State College psychologist Richard Lenhart will remain behind bars after Pennsylvania's Superior Court upheld his convictions for repeatedly raping a child. Lenhart was found guilty in 2024 of child rape, multiple sexual assault offenses, and corruption of minors after a jury heard testimony that he abused the victim over a 12-year period beginning when she was a young child.
Lenhart argued on appeal that the victim was not credible and continued to claim he was innocent, but the Superior Court rejected those arguments, pointing to the victim's detailed testimony describing the assaults and where they occurred in Centre County. Lenhart continues to serve a prison sentence of 20 to 40 years.
