Ontario, Canada psychologist Michael Gadon loses license for sex with patient

The College of Psychologists of Ontario revoked Michael Gadon’s license to practice. The patient who filed the complaint that resulted in the revocation had come to Dr. Gadon, depressed, following the loss of a finger and ultimately the use of her entire arm following a work-related injury. She attended two years of therapy during which she alleged that their doctor-patient relationship became increasingly flirtatious, with hugs and the exchange of e-mails. Gadon eventually moved therapy sessions to his private office (from a hospital setting), where the patient alleged he began to engage her in a sexual relationship, which he admitted in a letter to the College, stating, “I allowed the therapeutic and professional boundaries to erode from a professional relationship to….a romantic, sexual relationship.” ¹
