Ohio Psychology Board Suspends Nora Corcoran: Criminal Conviction and Three Arrests
February 14, 2019
On January 31, 2019 the Ohio Board of Psychology suspended indefinitely the license of psychologist Nora Corcoran, of Beachwood, Ohio.
According to the Board’s document, on her 2018-2020 biennial license registration application, Dr. Corcoran answered “yes” to the question “Are criminal charges currently pending or, during the past five years, have you been convicted of, or plead guilty or no contest to violating any municipal, state or federal law other than minor traffic offenses?”
Dr. Corcoran admitted that she “was in an altercation with a police officer in Uniontown, PA [in] July 2018, resulting in multiple charges.”
The Board confirmed that Dr. Corcoran was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, making terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct/engaging in fighting, harassment, and aggravated assault, and was incarcerated for 11 days. She pleaded not guilty and at the time the Board published its document, her case was still open.
The Board also discovered that Dr. Corcoran failed to disclose that she was convicted March 5, 2018 of assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, and driving while under the influence, stemming from a solo motor vehicle accident in which she crashed her car outside her office. She initially pleaded not guilty and attempted to be referred to the mental health court by reason of psychiatric disorder but ultimately retracted her plea and pleaded guilty.
Lastly, she was arrested in Cleveland on October 15, 2018 for failure to control, willful disregard, and open container.
