New York suspends license of psychiatrist Amy B. Meyer over drug convictions

On November 16, 2010, the New York Department of Health (DOH) issued a Consent Agreement suspending psychiatrist Amy B. Meyer’s license indefinitely (but for no less than one year), retroactive to December 27, 2007. 

According to the DOH’s document, Meyer was convicted on or about June 17, 2009 of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance (Tuxedo Town Court, Criminal Part, County of Orange, New York). 

She was sentenced October 13, 2009 to a $1,000 fine on each charge. 

In addition to suspension, she was required to return all official New York State prescriptions to the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement and surrender her Controlled Substance Registration Certificate the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration within 30 days. 

She may petition the Board of Professional Medical Conduct for a modification staying the indefinite suspension only after complying with all conditions of the Consent Agreement.
