New York disciplines psychiatrist Stephen Friedes

The New York State Board for Professional Medical Conduct suspended psychiatrist Stephen L. Friedes for one year. Enforcement of the suspension was stayed and he was placed on probation for 36 months. The Board’s Statement of Charges against Dr. Friedes states that he “failed to appropriately treat and/or inappropriately prescribed medication,” relative to more than one patient. Terms of probation include practice monitoring and additional continuing education in the area of pharmacology.
