New Jersey Psychiatrist Pleads Guilty in Medicaid Fraud
May 14, 2018
Psychiatrist, Dr. Lyda Monte, pleaded guilty before a U.S. District Judge in federal court for making false statements to a health care benefit program. Monte admitted that she signed fake treatment plans meant to mislead New Jersey Medicaid inspectors.
Most of the patients were Medicaid beneficiaries with claims being submitted between January 2010 and August 2016.
Monte holds a medical license to practice in New Jersey; state records list her as retired. She faces up to five years in prison, and a possible $250,000 fine.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 28.
