Montana medical board suspends psychiatrist James Peak over child porn conviction

May 18, 2012

On May 18, 2012, the Montana Board of Medical Examiners indefinitely suspended psychiatrist James H. Peak.

This action follows from Peak's December 7, 2011 conviction on one count of possession of child pornography, for which he was sentenced to one year in prison in December 2011, followed by supervised release for life and registration as a sex offender.

Peak had contacted the FBI in February 2011 to that he had received a mailing offering child pornography for sale.

During an interview with an investigator from the U.S. Postal Service, Peak admitted to possessing a collection of child pornography in video format which he'd received through the U.S. Mail.
