Michigan psychologist found guilty of sexual misconduct
November 3, 2017
Following a three-day trial, a jury found Michigan psychologist Mark Jones guilty of fourth degree criminal sexual misconduct by a mental health professional.
In April, he was arraigned after being accused of having sex with a 50-year-old female during or close to the time when she was his patient. Under Michigan law, fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct can occur when a mental health professional has sexual contact with someone who is currently a patient or was a patient within the previous two years. The consent of a victim is not a defense to prosecution.
His sentencing is scheduled for December 11. A separate trial for a charge of possession of marijuana will start on December 20.
