Michigan mental health practitioners disciplined; psychologist's license suspended

On October 10, 2010, the Michigan Department of Community Health Bureau of Health Professions issued a summary suspension of the license of professional counselor James Ian Sherrill.  The Bureau’s disciplinary action report states that the reason for the action is a criminal conviction and lack of good moral character. 

On August 19, 2010, the Michigan Department of Community Health Bureau of Health Professions dissolved a summary suspension of the license of psychologist Rudolph C. Hatfield and placed it on an indefinite suspension.  According to the Bureau’s disciplinary action report, Hatfield was placed on summary suspension in March 2010 due to an alcohol-related criminal conviction, mental/physical inability to practice, substance abuse and violation of general duty/negligence.  

On August 19, 2010, the Michigan Department of Community Health Bureau of Health Professions imposed a fined upon psychologist and professional counselor Brent Roderick Smith for violation of general duty/negligence. 

On September 2, 2010, the Michigan Department of Community Health’s Board of Psychology reinstated the license of psychologist Barbara C. Fisher with limitations and restrictions and placed her on probation.  Fisher was suspended for 18 months in May 2007 for lack of good moral character and negligence-incompetence and was also fined $1,000.
