Michigan Psychologist Paul Smith Indicted on Felony Charges

Manistee County, MI – Psychologist Paul Smith is facing felony charges after being indicted for health care fraud and money laundering.
According to the indictment, Smith submitted claims to Blue Cross for “neuropsychological’ and "psychological" testing. From January 2015 to February 2018, Smith submitted around $5 million in claims asking for reimbursement for the costs of the testings.
According to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Smith’s license was suspended back in January for lack of good moral character, unethical business practice, unprofessional conduct, and violation of the Michigan personal home care.
Smith is facing 13 counts of health insurance fraud and five counts of money laundering.
