Michigan Psychologist Michael Vredevoogd Violated Americans with Disabilities Act, Agrees to Comply
August 16, 2018
Michigan psychologist Michael Vredevoogd, with a Clinton Township practice, violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and agreed to provide accommodation for those with disabilities, according to federal authorities.
The neuro-psychologist, who has a PhD, violated the ADA by refusing to provide services to a patient who used a service dog, federal officials said in a news release.
It also was revealed Vredevoogd had a policy of refusing to provide sign-language interpreters for deaf patients, officials said.
Vredevoogd agreed to update his policies and train his staff to ensure compliance under the ADA, and take steps to ensure patients have access to an interpreter or other aids to receive treatment.
