The South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors issued a Final Order on counselor Amy L. Libs, suspending her license for two years. According to the Board’s document, Libs was employed as a counselor at a facility that provided treatment to participants in a research study involving prescription opiate use when she developed an inappropriate personal relationship with one of the research participants that included requesting the patient’s assistance with obtaining cocaine for personal use and visits to the patient’s home where the two consumed the drug. Libs admitted in the state’s document that “she has a problem with drug addiction which was in remission until…August 2007.”
