Medical board suspendes psychiatrist Lawrence A. Dunn indefinitely
August 4, 2010
In its July-August 2010 disciplinary actions report, the North Carolina Medical Board reported that it had suspended indefinitely the license of psychiatrist Lawrence A. Dunn due to care that is below standard in several respects. According to the Board’s report, the deficiencies noted included prescribing drugs in the absence of rationale supported by scientific principles; failing to obtain and document an appropriate history, physical examination and lab work; failing to appropriately coordinate care with other health care professionals and failing to provide appropriate pharmacovigilance when prescribing drugs that have a high abuse and diversional potential.
