Medical board restricts psychiatrist Lawrence Burton Beasley's prescribing

On June 29, 2010, the North Carolina Medical Board reprimanded psychiatrist Lawrence Burton Beasley, restricting him from practicing pain management medicine and from prescribing Schedule II and III drugs for the treatment of pain. According to the Board’s report, Beasley prescribed drugs, including controlled substances to six patients for the treatment of pain. The Board had the treatment of these patients reviewed by two experts who found that Beasley’s care fell below the standard of care.
