Medical Board Suspends Phoenix Psychiatrist Rajeev Billing on Charge of Doing Drugs with Patient

The Arizona Medical Board suspended a Phoenix psychiatrist's license on Thursday while it investigates accusations he used utilized illicit drugs with a patient.

Dr. Rajeev Billing has been suspended after the board received a complaint that he "utilized illicit substances including cocaine and marijuana with a patient," according to Arizona Medical Board case documents.

The patient had already been prescribed other medications, including Suboxone and Xanax and had a history of opioid abuse, according to case documents.

The complaint was turned over to the investigative staff, medical consultant and the lead board member, it said.

"All reviewed the information and concur that the interim consent agreement to restrict (Billing's) practice is appropriate," the case document said. "The investigation into this matter is pending and will be forwarded to the board promptly upon completion for review and action."

Billing cannot practice medicine in Arizona until approved by the board pending the investigation. Billing could not be reached for comment.
