Maryland social worker Shanine A. Borum suspended for three months

September 12, 2011

On April 11, 2011, the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners suspended Shanine Andrea Borum’s license to practice as a graduate social worker for three months.

According to the Board’s Consent Order, on January 21, 2010, Borum was arrested for shoplifting $29.35 worth of personal care items from a pharmacy. She was charged with theft and entered an Alford Plea (in which the defendant neither admits guilt nor admits to the crime but acknowledges that sufficient evidence exists to obtain a conviction in court) and was sentenced to Probation Before Judgment and a $300 fine.

In addition to the suspension of her license, her license will be on probation for a minimum of two years.
