Kentucky Psychiatrist Jason Stamper Set to Plead Guilty to Federal Drug Trafficking Charges

A Pikeville (Kentucky) psychiatrist currently under federal indictment for allegedly distributing drugs without a legitimate medical purpose now appears ready to enter a plea.

Jason Noah Stamper, 52, of Coal Run Village, was arrested in December of 2022, after authorities raided his home and office. At that time, he was charged with drug trafficking and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia in Pike District Court.

The following May, a federal grand jury indicted him on four counts of distributing amphetamine, a charge which carries a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison.

Although he was initially allowed to post bond to get out of jail, he was ordered to be held without bond in November, after he tested positive for meth. He has been held in the Pike County Detention Center since that time.

On Wednesday, his attorney filed a motion for re-arraignment, saying his client has reached a plea deal with prosecutors. A judge still must approve the request and set a hearing.
